This past weekend, Future Firefighters — a nonprofit committed to inspiring and preparing the next generation of firefighters through scholarships and hands-on education — successfully wrapped up its 14th year supporting the smooth operation of the Los Angeles Marathon.
Working behind the scenes of the demanding 26.2-mile course, Future Firefighters once again delivered exclusive logistical support that formed the backbone of the event’s operations. This year, a dedicated group of 70 male and female volunteers, mostly college students pursuing fire science degrees, worked around the clock to keep the race running efficiently.
The Los Angeles Marathon, LA’s largest and longest-running community sporting event, was held on March 8, 2026, marking its 41st anniversary. First run in 1986, the iconic “Stadium-to-the-Stars” course starts at Dodger Stadium and winds through the heart of the city before finishing near the Avenue of the Stars in Century City. This year, the race drew an estimated 27,000 runners from across the United States and 63 countries, making it one of the biggest and most international editions in recent memory.
“Thorough preparation makes all the difference,” said Jabari Morris, Future Firefighters Marathon Director, underscoring the vital contribution of to the marathon’s success.
Key Contributions by Future Firefighters:
- Logistical Support: Beginning at 3:00 AM, volunteers transported and distributed critical supplies to the 22 water and aid stations along the route. Deliveries included water, sports drinks, first-aid materials, cups, tables, chairs, defibrillators, and participant t-shirts.
